PM Hun Sen Welcomes More Japanese Investors to Cambodia

Kumamoto: The Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, Hun Sen, met with representatives of nine companies, including MITSUBISHI Corporation, during his visit to the Asia-Pacific Water Summit in Kumamoto, Japan on the afternoon of April 23, 2022. On that occasion, he announced to welcome investors from Japan to invest more in Cambodia.

In this afternoon meeting, General Manager of Mitsubishi in Phnom Penh and President of the Japan Business Association in Cambodia, Mr. Yogo KANDA, informed prime minister about the activities of his company in Cambodia, especially Mistubishi in Cambodia has three separate company the first is MITSUBISHI Corporation, a company that manages the production and transportation of garments from Cambodia to international markets, and the second is a company that imports cars to the Cambodian market and the third is a company that sells, installs and repairs elevators.

PM Hun Sen expressed his satisfaction with meeting with a Japanese company considers that the office of Mitsubishi, which opened in Cambodia in 1997, which is now 25 years old, is mature and it’s become better from year to year.

Prime Minister Hun Sen said that what the Cambodian market needs is also car and elevator that the company is investing in today. At the same time, PM also wants to see the export of Cambodian products to international markets, especially such as garments.

The Prime Minister is pleased that the Japanese Business Association in Cambodia holds regular meetings with the Council for the Development of Cambodia and the Japanese Ambassador to Cambodia twice a year.

He said the two countries should increase trade volume, especially to increase garment exports to international markets, especially Japan.

In a separate meeting after MITSUBISHI Corporation, Prime Minister Hun Sen met with representatives of eight companies who are planning to do business in Cambodia, and welcomed the additional investment from these investors to Cambodia.
